Most new clients come to receive the Rolfing Ten Series. This takes place over around ten sessions, spaced around every one or two weeks.

At our first session, we are likely to agree a goal for your Ten Series and talk about how we will address this. Most sessions start with a chat about how you are doing, and any effects you have noticed since the last session.

I will ask you to do some everyday movements, like walking, to help you sense into these movements. This also allows me to have an opportunity to understand what might benefit you the most in the session.

Rolfing® is always tailored to your needs - no one session feels or looks the same.

Journeying through the Series

Touch

Touch is key to Rolfing®.

Rolfers connect with touch to the fascia. The touch has a depth to it, as well as a perceptive and spacious quality to allow you to process the new information you are receiving through touch and presence.

Rolfing touch is directly onto skin. You receive work in underwear.

We explore in different ways in each session. For some sessions you might be lying on your back, others on your front or sides.

This is a little like looking through different windows to get different perspectives. Working in different body positions contributes to the multidimensional quality of the Rolfing process and to long-lasting change.

Multi-dimensional exploration

Breathing and moving with grace and efficiency requires many approaches. We will often work with gentle movement, both on the table and in sitting or standing.

Change in a Rolfing session is evoked not only by touch, but also by

  • Bringing awareness to your habits in how you hold yourself and how you move.

  • Increasing your perception of your inner space (interoception) and how you are in your environment.

  • Exploring different qualities in moving and being in the space.

Moving in all directions becomes more possible. Moving from all directions is more possible. Allowing movements from within to move the whole body becomes more possible.
